Thank you for your patience as our staff awaits guidance from school administration + city/county and state leadership. Recently the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) made the decision to delay the start of statewide practices for Fall sports until at least August 24 due to concerns over COVID-19. While marching band does not necessarily have to abide by the decisions of the FHSAA, we feel it is in the interest of the safety of our members to suspend any scheduled rehearsals for marching band until at least the week of August 24. Doing this will allow more time for decisions by VCS and FHSAA to be made regarding the fall football season which may impact our marching band, including whether bands will be allowed at games. This delay will also allow all students and their families time to prepare and/or acquire materials for our return, such as bell covers and masks that have adjustable openings to use while playing. Detailed information on required instrument and face coverings will be provided in the coming weeks.
We are tentatively planning on the following rehearsal dates and times, but please know they are subject to change as additional information becomes available:
Monday, August 24th 9am-12pm
Tuesday, August 25th 9am-12pm
Wednesday, August 26th 9am-12pm
Thursday, August 27th 9am-12pm
Friday, August 28th 9am-12pm
We appreciate your patience and understanding in navigating the uncertainty of the restart of our band activities and the school year as information is continually changing from day to day. We all eagerly await the time when our whole band family can come together again to make music and march, play, and spin as one!
